The second training session for the Mississippi Summer Project was dominated by three men who weren't there, and by one woman who was.
As the college volunteers gathered in Oxford, Ohio, for their first morning of preparation for a summer of Mississippi service, they were told by Mrs. Rita Schwerner that her husband Michael, plus student volunteer, Andrew Goodman and a local Negro, James Chaney had been reported missing a few hours earlier in Neshoba County.
