It's estimated that less than 8% of all college students who are Lutheran attend Lutheran schools. There's much to be said in favor of the responsibility of such a vast number (the other 92%) on other campuses to be there as light, leaven, and salt for our Lord. Filling that role isn't always easy for young Christians as they confront a flood of new ideas and divergent life styles in unfamiliar and secular settings.
