Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to provide basic inputs about the concept of mentoring to the readers. It touches on the role of mentoring in leadership and mentoring that is essential for entrepreneurs. It focuses on the myths and truths in mentoring. It suggests that there is more need to explore deeply about entrepreneurial mentoring. It helps look at the role of leaders in leadership mentoring. It stresses that there should be a blend of both inside and outside mentors to make the mentoring meaningful and fruitful. It may provide further scope for emerging areas in mentoring like lateral mentoring, soft (skills) mentoring. It outlines two case studies related to student and peer mentoring. It concludes with an emotional appeal to contribute something to society by mentoring them to become good ancestors rather than good inheritors.
