Churchmen Speak Out Against Violence
A good many church papers - and church organizations - have shied away from commenting on the recent violence in the South. Some have felt it difficult to justify people who ride a bus into a city that does not want them when they have previously announced their intentions to bring to an end deepseated customs and practices. Others feel that perhaps the North has had its own share of violence in days past, recalling the proverb about people who live in glass houses. Still others hope that nations abroad will not see the disgrace of these barbaric outbursts, to make us the laugh-stock of Communist humor.
