At least in the circles in which this writer ordinarily moves there is a very keen and perhaps hopeful interest in the development of the new administration under President Kennedy; and not the least of this interest is concentrated in the appointments to the cabinet and other high offices in the Federal Government.

G. Mennen Williams, a long-time fearless advocate and defender of the cause of civil rights, was appointed Undersecretary of State in charge of African Affairs.
