Occasionally Lutheran friends not identified with Synodical Conference churches will venture the thought that "the Missouri Synod" has "made more progress" or "has led the way among Lutherans in successfully combating racism within the church." While those of us in the Missouri Synod who are concerned about removing the roadblock of racism from the pathway of the Gospel may like to hear such remarks, they are not altogether factual. The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod has been, until recently, and is even now perhaps behind the parade marching toward the elimination of racial prejudice and discrimination.
