By this time many will have forgotten the murder in 1955 of the fourteen-year-old Negro lad, Emmett Till. The murderers remain unpunished to this day. In the same part of Mississippi, Mack Charles Parker, a Negro, was recently lynched by a mob of white men. He had been jailed, though not convicted, for raping a white woman. The FBI has now withdrawn its agents who were trying to help find the lynchers. The withdrawal is said to be based on the fact that no evidence was found that a Federal law had been violated. The FBI has now turned over to the Governor of Mississippi the names of seven men who are suspected of having been involved.
