Dr. Angel Ibarra, Director of Medical Services of Lutheran Social Services of El Salvador, was still imprisoned by Salvadoran National Police as of May 25th.
Dr. Ibarra, along with Pastor Medardo Gomez, was arrested in San Salvador on April 27th. Pastor Gomez was released after three days. Gomez is President of the Lutheran Synod of El Salvador, embracing 24,000 members and affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) in the United States. He serves as pastor of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in San Salvador.
