State troopers for too long a time have come in only one color with little variance in size and shape. This phenomenon was finally brought to the attention of the United States Department of Justice. As a result, civil suits on behalf of Blacks, Spanish-surnamed persons, and women were filed recently against state police forces in Michigan and New Jersey.
