After the cruel death of their daughter in the racist bombing of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, Mr. and Mrs. Chris McNair did not react in bitter hatred. Wanting so much that she would not have died in vain, Chris McNair pleaded: "We must work all the harder to bring about a more decent world for the children who are left."
