Fred Hampton, Illinois chairman of the Black Panther Party, is dead. So is Panther Mark Clark.
State's Attorney Edwin Hanrahan in a TV interview commended the officers who "bravely and with restraint" participated in the pre-dawn raid on Thursday December 4, when the shoot-out occurred.
Many in Chicago's black community and many whites are convinced that Hanrahan's men murdered Hampton as he slept.
