Excerpt

The Lutheran Human Relations Association notes with regret the sudden death of Dr. Franklin Clark Fry, President of the Lutheran Church in America, in June, 1968.

He was one of the great architects of the Protestant world. He appeared on the world scene as President of the United Lutheran Church in America in 1944, at the beginning of the post-war era. From 1944 until 1968 his organizing genius, his skill as a parliamentarian, and his creativeness were applied towards meeting the organizational demands of that era in such national and international bodies as the National Council of Churches, the World Council of Churches, the Lutheran World Federation, and the Lutheran Church in America. By his life's work. the ability of the Lutheran churches, here and abroad, to meet the demands of the next two or three decades has been enhanced.
