VU Enrollment Downsizes As Quality Upgrades
Valparaiso University opened the 1993 autumn semester with a smaller enrollment and an ongoing increase in the quality of its students. According to the registrar, VU enrolled 2,734 undergraduates, 542 law students, and 217 graduate students, for a total of 3,493 students in the fall.
While the fall undergraduate enrollment of 2,734 students shows an enrollment lessening of nearly 600 students in the past five years, student quality has increased over the same period. "The average ACT and SAT scores of our new students this fall are the highest in the University's history," said VU Provost Roy Austensen, 'and they show our success in drawing a higher quality student body to the University."
