Board Okays Co-Generation to Save Millions

Co-generation of electricity and heat for the VU campus was approved by the University's board of directors at its April meeting. Payback of the initial investment is anticipated in the first five years plus an additional accumulation of savings in excess of $1 million within 10 years.

Physical Plant Director William Domke '50 visited several schools which have begun co-generation. Based on these visits and other available evidence, President Harre recommended and the board okayed the project "as a way which will save the University a significant amount of money in the years ahead."
