"Dear Brother:

During the academic year 1953-54 I hope to write these random paragraphs more regularly than in the immediate past. There are several reasons for this somewhat vague hope. In the first place, I should like to submit some of the things that are being said and thought and done on the campus; in the second place, the University is again on the eve of several major developments — both academic and physical —concerning which I should like to keep you inform^ as thoroughly as possible. I shall be grateful if you find these notes of some small interest."
