On an ordinary Tuesday night the phone rings. A woman answers and is greeted with a cheery voice saying, "Congratulations on your new baby girl!" Shrieking with excitement, the woman quickly telephones for her husband who is driving a truck at the time. She leaves a message to have him call her. Once they are finally able to talk, she tells him, "We got a baby!" With this exciting news, her husband rushes home so he may pick up the little girl the next day with his wife. Over nineteen years later, that little girl is in college. That little girl is me. After having been given up for adoption, being adopted, and going through many experiences through now, much love has been demonstrated by both my birth parents and my adoptive parents. Love seems to be a strong feeling of caring that can be displayed through an action such as adoption or even something as simple as giving someone you love the bigger piece of cake for dessert. The sacrifices parents make for their children are a way of expressing love, including birth parents giving up a child for adoption, adoptive parents adopting a child, or everyday problems that parents solve for the benefit of their child.
