Since Ronald Reagan became President, cases of censorship have skyrocketed more than 500 percent! Judith Krug of the American Library Association reports that there used to be three to five cases reported each week; now there are three to five cases a day (Stavely and Gersor 1654). In this move toward censorship, everything is being attacked as dangerous: books, magazines, movies. Censorship can prevent people, especially children, from learning all aspects of any issue and can keep them from making their own decisions. If the children of today are to become the informed citizens of tomorrow, there must be less censorship and more intellectual freedom.
