A Cree Native American prophecy states that, "Only when the last tree has fallen, only when the last river has been poisoned, only when the last fish has been caught, only then will you find that money cannot be eaten." While the human society continues to grow and expand, more and more resources are being consumed. As citizens we have a responsibility to the environment. It is our jobs to make sure that our resources do not deplete and that they are available for generations to come. An excellent way to accomplish this is by recycling. By reusing materials to make new things, we reduce the amount of resources we waste. Unfortunately, not all citizens feel it is their duty to recycle. They do not see the importance in the process. This is an issue at my former high school. The administration does not provide the proper means and the students do not have the drive to recycle. The cause and effects of the recycling issue can easily be determined by examining the school and worldly environments.
