Abstract

This conference paper summarizes the importance of Númenórean lore-masters in the "Mannish affair" conceit of the post-LOTR cosmologies before investigating the prevalence of loremasters among the first five kings of Númenor. Parallels are drawn with real-world Medieval scholar-kings.
