Nowhere in the crisis of American agriculture are the problems more imposing than in the decline of Black farm ownership and operation.

The decline of Black farming in the U.S. is illustrated by date from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. These data indicate that in every decade from 1959 to 1978, the number of Black-operated farms has been cut in half.
