Fifty-two of the eighty black clergymen of the three major Lutheran church bodies met in Chicago, May 7 to 10, to discuss problems common to their ministry and evolve a strategy for helping the church through the years ahead. After meeting in closed assembly for a day and a half, the pastors opened sessions to white church leaders to share concerns with them. On hand also for the consultation were the presidents of the ALC, Mo. Synod, and LCA, Doctors Schiotz, Harms and Fry.
